Omegamoon’s GitHub: LibreELEC test build for RK3288

“LibreELEC is governed by a project board elected from active team members to set project goals, priorities, and take executive decisions. The board ensures project tasks are distributed among volunteers; we operate on the principle of “many hands make light work” and no project task should ever depend on the skills or efforts of a single person. In the long-term we intend to preserve the collaborative nature of the project by registering LibreELEC as a non-profit charity or foundation.”

LibreELEC is ‘Just enough OS’ for Kodi, a Linux distribution built to run Kodi on current and popular mediacentre hardware. This is an evolution of the popular OpenELEC project.

Before our engineers already made LibreELEC build for Ugoos Amlogic devices and users’ feedback made us think this is a rather useful solution as android alternative.

Now the news come from Omegamoon blog page, where he placed information about his own build for RK3288 devices. He ported LibreELEC 8.0 with a Linux 4.4 kernel on Ugoos UT3+ device.

In original Article you can find an update file for reflashing and link for GitHub page.

Quote: “As you can see on the screenshot, LibreELEC is running nicely on my Ugoos now. I haven't tested everything yet, but first looks show that full HD movie playback is smooth, sound works, Ethernet, touch screen. Kernel needs some more love, because Wifi isn't working yet, among other things. But apart from that I think LibreELEC has a lot of potential on the RK3288."

I need to clean up my code, but then I'll upload the code on github so you can give it a try as well if you want.”

[Update] 2017-02-23 Updated firmware available

Quote: “Latest test image can be found here. This image should work when flashed from Windows as well as Linux. After flashing completes, the device is rebooted. On first boot, the user partition is automatically resized, and although the device should reboot automatically after that, it seems to hang. So on first boot, the trick is to wait for lets say a minute, then unplug the power, and finally replug the power to boot into LibreELEC. I know this is somewhat of a hassle, but it works, and hey, this is an early test version :)"

Thanks to Omegamoon for his work, information was taken from HERE.

Thanks to Ugoos for the venerable UT3(S/+) and continued support. Thanks to Omegamoon for adding even more versatility to an already versatile platform. Anxious to give this a go. Cheers!
